Sports Manager
- Jack Newton Junior Golf – The NSW Junior Jack Newton State Age Championship scheduled for July 5 – 8. Hosted jointly between Ocean Shores & Byron Bay.
- ProAm scheduled for Wed 27 July
- Pat boon Cup Sat & Sun 11 & 12 June.
- Shotgun start on the Sun
- Another opportunity to have a VG presentation
- Ocean Shores Junior Open Day Masters- rescheduled for Sun 18 September
- Pro Shop sale in June
- Sponsorship for the coming financial year has been finalised
Ocean Shores Country Club 50th Anniversary Week of Golf May 16 to 21
Well the weather didn’t do us any favours but we did manage to get a few games in albeit the Par 3 Wet Weather Course was used for all days played. Unfortunately the course was closed on Fri & Sat
I must give a warm welcome to all of the visitors that showed up this week and good on you Mullum folk for continuing to enjoy a game here

Course Superintendent
- The Bunker drainage work has been pencilled in for mid June
- Cart Paths – A 2nd round application was submitted on Fri 15 April. Fingers crossed
- Signage for the 13th hole (best 13th Hole) has been delivered and will be installed shortly
- A update of the need to upgrade greens and fairways mowers and other ancillary equipment has been presented to the Finance Committee for approval to the board
- It is to be noted that the current fleet of equipment has extended past it’s use by date due financial constraints associated by the Covid epidemic
- Course staff are now working on presentation of the course in readiness for the Jack Newton State Age Championships in July
- African Tulip Trees are starting to present a problem on the course.
- These trees are considered a serious environmental weed across NSW, Qld & NT.
- It is classed as a restricted invasive plant under the Qld Biosecurity Act 2014
- It is included in the ‘Global Invasive Species Database Top 100 Worlds Worst Invaders’
- The nectar is fatal to native bees and even worse can poison bee larvae and hives
- A program is being developed to remove these trees from the course

Men’s Golf is organising volunteers for the Jack Newton State Age Championships in July
Ladies Golf
- Our 50th Anniversary shotgun start was very successful and the ladies turned up in numbers for our first real presentation in over 3 months
- Thank you to men’s golf for the BBQ
- We had 39 players and about 50 all up at the presentation JJJJ
- The first White Marker Challenge was held Fri 29 April
- The next game is Fri 27 May
- Playing off the 1st & 10th tees will restart on 7 June with starts between 8 & 8.30am
Vets Golf
- The final 2 rounds of the Bill Connors Plumbing Shootout will now be played on 9 & 16 June to hopefully finally get carts on paths and allow all of our elders to participate in the event
- The game on 16 June will be a shotgun start and the gala presentation will follow with many prizes and a 100 board raffle
General
- Stuart Pratt has begun organising the Go Bo mixed golf / bowls event being held in early Oct
- The GMC has supported a proposal to direct increases in membership and social fees towards course equipment replacement and other course infrastructure.
